Remaining cold and becoming very unsettled next week with gales and wintry showers.
THIS EVENING & TONIGHT - FRIDAY27thMARCH
Varying amounts of cloud with some clear spells and occasional showers. Moderate south-westerly breeze.
TOMORROW - SATURDAY 28th MARCH
A few showers at first but more persistent and heavier rain pushing in from the south-west as a low tracks over Shetland. As the low heads away north-eastwards it will drag in colder, showery weather behind it. Moderate south-westerly winds quickly becoming strong to gale force south-easterly before quickly veering westerly by afternoon and remaining quite fresh overnight.
SUNDAY 29h MARCH
A cold day with a mixture of brighter spells and showers, often wintry. Occasional showers continuing overnight and again these will be wintry and possible some of snow and perhaps accompanied by the odd rumble of thunder. Clear spells in between means a frost is likely. Moderate westerly winds falling light for a time then veering north-westerly and increasing strong at times overnight, especially over the south and Fair Isle.
MONDAY 30th MARCH
A cold start with a few wintry showers and some sunnier spells. Thicker cloud with rain pushing up from the south by evening and becoming heavier for a time overnight. Fresh to strong winds.
TUESDAY 31st MARCH
Becoming bitterly cold with a strong north-westerly flow setting in bringing some blustery and occasionally heavy wintry showers, again with the chance of a rumble of thunder mixed in. Strong to gale force north-westerly winds.
